Locum Driver for Laboratory Specimen Transport

About the role

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Lesotho is seeking a reliable Locum Driver to ensure safe and timely transport of laboratory specimens, medicines, staff, and partners. The role supports the ART clinic and the National Reference Laboratory by maintaining strict safety and confidentiality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Transport laboratory specimens from the AHF ART Clinic to the National Reference Laboratory and return results securely.
• Move staff, partners, and medical supplies to designated locations and back.
• Maintain the vehicle logbook, request fuel, and record mileage and fuel consumption.
• Keep the vehicle clean, perform daily interior cleaning and at least two weekly washes.
• Conduct basic vehicle checks (oil, water, etc.) and report repair needs promptly.
• Secure the vehicle against loss or damage and comply with all Lesotho traffic and road‑safety regulations.
• Adhere to non‑smoking, no‑phone‑while‑driving, and zero‑alcohol/drug policies.
• Complete weekly vehicle log sheets and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• COSEC High School Certificate or Form E.
• Valid driver’s licence (minimum Code 10) held for at least five years.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Strong communication skills for clear information exchange with team members.
• Physical and emotional resilience when transporting critically ill patients.
