Litigation Executive (Civil Litigation)

About the role

Alpha is looking for a Litigation Executive to manage a litigated caseload and provide support to Litigation Executives and Claims Handlers. The role focuses on civil litigation matters, including drafting legal documents and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client expectations professionally and ensure clear, timely communication.
• Prioritise workload by creating action plans and meeting deadlines in line with client requirements.
• Draft and review legal documents such as applications, offers, orders, and directions.
• Participate in telephone conferences with clients, solicitors, and insurers.
• Conduct detailed case management in compliance with Service Level Agreements and internal guidelines.
• Review quantum and assess both general and special damages accurately.
• Develop comprehensive case plans to support litigation progress.
• Engage in telephone negotiations with third parties and clients.
• Liaise regularly with third‑party solicitors, insurers, own insurer clients, and lay clients.

Required profile

• LLB degree (essential).
• Minimum six months’ legal experience as an admitted attorney or candidate attorney.
• Experience in civil litigation; familiarity with motor vehicle accidents, Road Accident Fund claims, third‑party claims, contract law, and insurance work is advantageous.
• Enthusiastic, self‑motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong initiative, creative problem‑solving skills and a professional telephone manner.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

What we offer

• Salary: R12,000 – R13,000 per month.
• Working hours: 9:00 am‑6:00 pm or 10:00 am‑7:00 pm.
