Lending Dealmaker

About the role

The Lending Dealmaker will originate, structure, negotiate and execute profitable lending and structured finance transactions for mid‑market corporate clients. You will manage the full client lifecycle—from business development and opportunity identification through credit approval, execution, drawdown and ongoing portfolio management—balancing client needs with commercial returns and prudent risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, originate and develop quality lending opportunities that align with Merchant West’s strategic objectives and risk appetite.
• Build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of bankable transactions through proactive business development, referrals and relationship management.
• Engage new clients and deepen relationships with existing clients and strategic partners.
• Design bespoke financing solutions for working capital, commercial property finance and term loans.
• Prepare term sheets, transaction proposals, credit papers, investment memoranda and client presentations.
• Structure innovative financing solutions that meet client requirements while satisfying risk and return objectives.
• Collaborate with Credit, Legal, Treasury and external advisers to optimise transaction structures.
• Oversee transaction execution, ensuring legal documentation reflects approved terms and conditions precedent are met before funding.
• Monitor post‑close performance and manage the ongoing portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience originating, structuring and executing mid‑market corporate finance transactions.
• Strong track record of building trusted client relationships and delivering profitable lending solutions.
• Ability to balance commercial returns with prudent risk management.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of working capital, commercial property finance and term loan products.
• Expertise in transaction structuring, credit analysis and portfolio management.
• Familiarity with legal documentation and funding processes.
