Legal & Governance Manager

About the role

The Private Security Sector Provident Fund (PSSPF) is seeking a senior legal professional to lead its Legal & Governance function. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Manager will act as the primary legal authority, overseeing litigation, contract management and member complaints in compliance with the Pension Funds Act and FSCA regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal opinions, draft and review contracts and agreements, and manage legal risk across the organisation.
• Oversee all active and emerging litigation matters and coordinate external legal counsel.
• Own and manage the member complaints function, ensuring compliance with the Pension Funds Act and FSCA requirements.
• Support the Board of Trustees and sub‑committees on legal, regulatory and governance matters.
• Maintain and update the PSSPF governance framework to remain robust and compliant.
• Liaise with the FSCA, FST and other regulatory bodies as required.

Required profile

• LLB degree (hard requirement).
• Admitted attorney or advocate (hard requirement).
• Minimum 5 years post‑admission experience, preferably in retirement fund or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of the Pension Funds Act, Financial Sector Regulation Act and retirement fund governance frameworks.
• Proven experience managing litigation and directing external counsel.
• Experience engaging with the FSCA, FST and other regulatory bodies.
