Legal Counsel

About the role

The General Counsel will act as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive team and Board of SOLASOLA, a vertically integrated renewable energy solutions provider. Based in Cape Town, the role covers legal, regulatory and compliance matters across the entire value chain, from project development to corporate finance.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate contracts for project development, land acquisition, environmental authorisations and permitting.
• Prepare and manage project finance documentation, including credit agreements, term sheets, security documents and shareholders’ agreements with banks, DFIs and equity partners.
• Oversee EPC and O&M contracts for large‑scale PV and battery storage installations, including supply agreements and dispute resolution.
• Draft and negotiate corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and structure energy wheeling agreements across Eskom and municipal grids.
• Provide legal counsel on corporate governance, fiduciary duties, M&A due diligence, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, ensuring optimal tax, liability and operational structures.

Required profile

• Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
• Based in Cape Town, South Africa.
