Legal Compliance Manager

About the role

This newly created position is for an experienced legal professional to build and lead the internal legal and compliance function of a fast‑growing international consulting firm following a strategic acquisition. Reporting to senior operations leadership, you will design legal frameworks, standardise templates and implement a Contract Lifecycle Management system.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and own the internal legal, risk and compliance functions as the primary legal subject‑matter expert.
• Manage the full contract lifecycle – drafting, negotiating, executing and amending client, partnership and supplier agreements.
• Lead the implementation and optimisation of a new Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system.
• Develop proactive legal risk‑management frameworks and advise on emerging legislation such as data‑protection (POPIA).
• Perform company secretarial duties, maintain statutory records and handle regulatory filings.
• Oversee the annual B‑BBEE verification process and advise on its impact on procurement and partnerships.
• Translate complex legal concepts into clear guidance for internal stakeholders and design legal‑awareness training.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as a practising attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum eight years of experience in a corporate or commercial legal environment.
• Strong track record in commercial contract drafting and negotiation within professional services or project‑based organisations.
