Legal Associate

About the role

Yoco is seeking a Legal Associate to provide commercially‑focused legal support across its fast‑growing fintech business. The role is ideal for a qualified lawyer with 3–5 years of post‑qualification experience who can work independently and help build scalable legal frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate routine commercial agreements such as supplier, partnership, SaaS and reseller contracts.
• Provide first‑line guidance on standard commercial terms and escalate high‑risk matters.
• Maintain and enhance contract templates, clause libraries and negotiation playbooks.
• Administer the contract lifecycle management platform, including uploads, tracking and permissions.
• Allocate incoming legal matters via the Legal Ticketing System and keep knowledge resources up to date.
• Support intellectual property protection, litigation, disputes, fraud‑related matters and regulatory requests.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate legal complexity into practical business solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 3–5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Commercially minded with the ability to work autonomously and manage routine matters.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain legal concepts to non‑legal audiences.
• Proactive attitude towards process improvement and legal operations efficiency.

Required skills

• Contract drafting and negotiation.

• Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools.
• Knowledge of intellectual property, litigation and regulatory matters.
