Legal and Compliance Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Legal and Compliance Specialist to support our business in interpreting legislation, managing legal risk and implementing compliance risk‑management solutions within the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal advice and interpret applicable legislation to minimise risk.
• Implement compliance risk‑management solutions and monitor breaches in line with strategic policies.
• Conduct impact analyses, draft legal documents and reports, and advise business units on compliance matters.
• Manage and deliver key compliance projects, including presentations to senior executives.
• Identify gaps in compliance processes, recommend corrective actions and ensure implementation of regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• LLB degree (Matric required); admission as a High Court attorney and a postgraduate diploma in Compliance Risk Management are advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in financial services compliance, preferably with FAIS and short‑term insurance exposure.
• Strong knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment, general legislative frameworks and compliance risk‑management methodology.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of the CURA compliance system (advantageous).
