Legal and Compliance Specialist – Fund & Regulatory Focus

About the role

We are seeking a Legal and Compliance Specialist to support the Head of GLRC in managing the legal and regulatory obligations of Symmetry, an investment solutions business within the Old Mutual Wealth Group. The role will focus on fund‑related legal work and FSCA regulatory matters across institutional, retail and private market segments.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate fund‑related legal documents such as supplemental deeds, co‑naming agreements, DFM mandates and service level agreements.
• Support FSCA applications and submissions for fund registration, structural changes and regulatory approvals, including preparation of documentation and correspondence.
• Manage the full lifecycle of legal documents from drafting through execution, ensuring version control, internal approvals and post‑execution maintenance.
• Engage with Wealth Legal, Group Compliance, Risk functions and external counsel on CISCA‑governed matters.
• Maintain a working understanding of CISCA and its application to fund structures, and translate regulatory changes into practical implications.
• Serve as primary drafter for standard and non‑standard agreements across the business, including NDAs, introducer agreements, data‑sharing arrangements and service provider contracts.
• Conduct first‑line legal review of incoming agreements and produce clear, actionable feedback.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney with hands‑on experience in a management‑company environment.
• Proven ability to produce independent legal work product and navigate FSCA processes confidently.
• Experience with CISCA‑governed fund structuring and related regulatory frameworks (FAIS, FICA, POPIA).
• Strong drafting skills and attention to detail.
