Legal Advisor – Property Development

About the role

Our client, a diversified property development group, is looking for a commercially‑minded Legal Advisor to support its residential, commercial and mixed‑use projects. The role involves providing comprehensive legal, commercial and HR advice across multiple business units while managing risk and ensuring strong governance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general legal advice to management and internal stakeholders.
• Support implementation of company policies, procedures and best practices.
• Identify, assess and help manage legal, commercial and compliance risks.
• Draft, review and manage legal correspondence, notices and corporate documentation.
• Liaise with external attorneys, conveyancers, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Assist with litigation management and dispute resolution.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and property agreements (sales, leases, construction, service, loan, security, confidentiality).
• Support property acquisitions, disposals and developments, including title deed review and conveyancing.
• Handle homeowners' association, body corporate matters and corporate secretarial duties.
• Draft board and shareholder resolutions and support governance processes.
• Prepare employment contracts, appointment letters, warnings and other employee correspondence.
• Assist with performance management, disciplinary processes and employee relations.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years post‑admission experience.
• Strong experience in commercial contract drafting and legal advisory work.
• Solid knowledge of commercial, corporate and property law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
