Legal Advisor – Financial Planning & Fiduciary Services

About the role

The Legal Advisor will provide expert financial planning and technical support for risk, investment and fiduciary solutions across both individual and business markets. This position involves close collaboration with financial advisers and planners to deliver tailored legal and compliance services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyse and implement estate, business, tax, investment and retirement planning solutions for clients and advisers.
• Support financial advisers by understanding their needs, maintaining client focus, and delivering timely follow‑ups and feedback.
• Contribute to the growth and retention of risk and fiduciary services, including wills, trusts and estates.
• Train and develop advisers, providing legal and technical guidance.
• Prepare and submit required FAIS compliance documentation such as Letters of Introduction and Records of Advice.
• Participate in knowledge‑sharing initiatives and contribute to internal publications.

Required profile

• Relevant law degree (essential).
• Postgraduate diploma in financial planning (essential).
• FAIS compliance certification (RE1 and RE5).
• Minimum five years of business‑related experience, with 3‑5 years in financial services corporate.
• Strong communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Willingness to travel between provinces.
