Lecturer – Setswana Language & Literacy (Bachelor of Education)

About the role

The University seeks a dedicated Lecturer to teach and assess distance‑learning students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education foundation phase programmes. The focus is on Setswana language and literacy modules, delivering high‑quality instruction in an online environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lecture and assess students for multiple Setswana language and literacy modules (e.g., SWFA100, SWLI201, LSWA302, etc.).
• Engage with module coordinators to continuously improve teaching and learning.
• Develop and deliver content using a Learning Management System, both independently and collaboratively.
• Participate in curriculum design, material development, and internal moderation.
• Support school‑based teaching practice assessments and provide academic assistance to students.
• Fulfil quality‑assurance, research, community‑engagement, and administrative duties, including committee work and meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education (minimum honours) or equivalent with studies in Setswana literacy, home language, conversational Setswana, or first additional language.
• At least 3 years of teaching or lecturing experience in the relevant discipline.
• Relevant teaching qualification and experience in curriculum and material development.
• Proven experience in online and blended teaching environments.
• Strong subject‑matter expertise and willingness to work Saturdays.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Use of digital teaching tools and educational software.
