Lecturer in Private or Mercantile Law

About the role

STADIO, a multi‑campus private higher‑education institution in South Africa, is seeking a Lecturer for its School of Law. The successful candidate will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Private Law and/or Mercantile Law, support research activities, and contribute to academic administration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lectures, tutorials and seminars in Private Law and/or Mercantile Law.
• Prepare, mark and moderate assessments, assignments and exam papers.
• Maintain and update course content on the Learning Management System (Canvas).
• Participate in academic administration and departmental duties.
• Conduct and support legal research and scholarly publications.

Required profile

• Completed or ongoing South African LLM degree in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated expertise in Private Law and/or Mercantile Law.
• Prior teaching experience at the higher‑education level.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System.
• Familiarity with legal research databases such as Sabinet, JutaStat and LexisNexis.
