Learning Officer – Process Training

About the role

The Learning Officer – Process Training will design, deliver and evaluate training programmes that boost safety, technical competence and productivity for employees at the Mortimer Smelter. Reporting to the Learning & Development team, you will ensure the workforce meets current and future operational demands while complying with industry regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design comprehensive training curricula based on needs assessments, covering safety, technical skills, leadership and regulatory compliance.
• Facilitate engaging sessions using e‑learning platforms, classroom instruction and on‑the‑job coaching, tailoring content for diverse audiences.
• Partner with subject‑matter experts and external trainers to deliver workshops, simulations and practical exercises.
• Monitor and record participant progress, maintain training registers and ensure compliance with MQA, SAQA and other statutory requirements.
• Evaluate training effectiveness through performance data and feedback, driving continuous improvement of learning delivery.
• Assess the impact of training on operational efficiency and recommend adjustments to enhance employee performance.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to safety and zero‑harm principles.
• Experience in designing and delivering training programmes in an industrial or mining environment.
• Ability to analyse training needs and translate them into practical learning solutions.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of MQA and SAQA training standards.
• Proficiency with e‑learning authoring tools and classroom training techniques.
• Record‑keeping and reporting capabilities for training compliance.
