Laboratory Assistant Tester – Sample Management & Analysis

About the role

The Laboratory Assistant Tester supports the testing and analysis of sugar stream products in a manufacturing environment. You will handle sample receipt, labeling, preparation, and ensure strict sample integrity while maintaining a clean, sterile laboratory workspace.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, receive, label, and organize samples for testing, ensuring sample integrity.
• Clean, sterilize, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to guarantee accurate results.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and capture precise test results.
• Assist in preparation and evaluation of laboratory samples, including analysis of A, B and C sugar stream products.
• Support internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor laboratory inventory and enforce Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
• Perform duties assigned by the Process Supervisor during non‑crushing periods.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with passes in Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Diploma in Chemistry or Analytical Science is a strong advantage.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in a testing, manufacturing, or clinical laboratory environment.
• Familiarity with plant conditions and laboratory safety procedures.
