Kitchen Manager

About the role

The Kitchen Manager will lead all kitchen operations at Bossa Hermanus, a family‑friendly restaurant and bar located within the Hermanus Sports Club. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that every dish is prepared to the highest standards while supporting a vibrant, hospitality‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule kitchen staff, providing training and mentorship.
• Oversee food preparation, cooking processes and presentation to maintain consistent quality.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards in compliance with regulations.
• Manage inventory, ordering, stock rotation and control food costs.
• Collaborate with management to develop and implement menu offerings.
• Ensure smooth service during peak periods and coordinate with front‑of‑house teams.

Required profile

• Strong skills in food preparation and cooking with a focus on quality.
• Experience in food & beverage operations and coordination with front‑of‑house.
• Proven track record in food safety and hygiene compliance.
• Culinary management experience, including staff supervision and workflow optimisation.
• Relevant culinary qualification or equivalent practical experience in a busy restaurant.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities with a hands‑on style.
