Junior Underwriter – Personal & Commercial Lines

About the role

Our client, a leading short‑term insurance administration provider, is seeking a Junior Underwriter to support both personal and commercial lines. Working remotely from Centurion, you will collaborate closely with brokers to ensure accurate risk assessment, policy administration, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Risk Assessment – Review applications and supporting documentation to evaluate risk feasibility for personal (domestic) and commercial (SME) lines.
• Policy Administration – Process new business quotes, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations efficiently using the company’s insurance systems.
• Client/Broker Liaison – Communicate with brokers and clients to gather required information, explain coverage options, and address day‑to‑day queries.
• Compliance – Ensure underwriting decisions adhere to company standards, policy wordings, and FAIS regulatory requirements.
• Document Management – Manage proposal forms, onboarding documents, and keep client databases up to date.
• Renewal Management – Prepare renewals, analyse claims data, and identify opportunities to retain clients.
• Reporting – Assist with audits and prepare underwriting reports as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to review applications and assess risk for both personal and commercial insurance lines.
• Strong attention to detail in policy administration and document management.
• Good communication skills for interacting with brokers and clients.
• Understanding of compliance requirements, particularly FAIS regulations.
