Junior Transport Manager

About the role

This hands‑on position supports day‑to‑day transport and fleet operations for a national team based in Gauteng, with travel to KwaZulu‑Natal as required. The Junior Transport Manager schedules vehicles, monitors performance and helps ensure goods are moved safely, efficiently and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate vehicles, drivers and delivery routes.
• Monitor daily transport activity, fuel usage and tracking data, taking corrective action on delays or route issues.
• Communicate with drivers, controllers, warehouses, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with incident management, route changes and service disruptions.
• Support senior transport management in operational execution and reporting.
• Help manage a transport team of 40‑60 drivers and six controllers across Gauteng and KwaZulu‑Natal.
• Monitor driver performance, compliance and operational discipline.
• Promote accountability, safety and productivity within the team.
