Junior Research Nurse

About the role

The Centre for Child and Adolescent Lung Health is seeking a Junior Research Nurse to join a multidisciplinary team focused on improving health outcomes for infants, children and mothers. This position blends direct nursing care with clinical research activities in both hospital and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to study participants, including infants, children and mothers.
• Support recruitment and enrolment for clinical trials and cohort studies.
• Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, sample collection and vital‑sign monitoring.
• Administer routine vaccinations as required by study protocols.
• Assist with questionnaire administration and electronic data capture.
• Maintain stock control, consumables and ensure clinical readiness of study sites.
• Collaborate closely with doctors, counsellors, research staff and other nurses.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing with current SANC registration.
• Experience in paediatrics and/or midwifery.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Highly organised and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confidence using computers for clinical data entry.
