Junior Research Nurse

About the role

The Junior Research Nurse will join the Centre for Child and Adolescent Lung Health to support clinical research aimed at improving health outcomes for infants, children and their mothers. This position blends hands‑on nursing care with research activities in both hospital and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to study participants, including infants, children and mothers.
• Support recruitment and enrolment of participants for clinical trials and cohort studies.
• Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, sample collection and vital‑sign monitoring.
• Administer routine vaccinations as required by study protocols.
• Assist with questionnaire administration and electronic data capture.
• Maintain stock control, manage consumables and ensure clinical readiness.
• Collaborate closely with doctors, counsellors, research staff and other nurses.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing with current SANC registration.
• Experience in paediatrics and/or midwifery.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Highly organised and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confidence using computers for clinical data capture.
