Junior Operations Assistant (Truck Fleet Control)

About the role

The Junior Operations Assistant will support the truck fleet control function, ensuring efficient scheduling, loading, and compliance for long‑distance refrigerated trucks. You will work closely with drivers, clients, and the operations team to maintain smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and monitor long‑distance truck movements, including back‑haul planning.
• Oversee loading and off‑loading processes, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Manage driver communications, monitor in‑cab cameras, and resolve issues promptly.
• Coordinate permits for abnormal loads and arrange roadside assistance when needed.
• Track Bill of Lading documents and ensure proper cargo salvage procedures after incidents.

Required profile

• Minimum Matric qualification with a stable work record and contactable references.
• Proven experience in fleet scheduling, refrigerated truck handling, and axle weight distribution.
• Strong work ethic, ability to cope under pressure, and 24/7 availability when required.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Computer literacy for fleet management tasks.
• Knowledge of axle weight distribution and volumetric balancing.

What we offer

• Salary ranging from R15 000 to R25 000 per month, commensurate with experience.
• Annual performance bonus and full‑time permanent contract.
