Junior Operations Assistant

About the role

Fujax Group is seeking a Junior Operations Assistant to join its trading operations team in Cape Town. This full‑time, on‑site position is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career professional who wants hands‑on experience in commodity trading, shipping, and logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day execution of containerised and bulk cargo shipments.
• Assist with shipping schedules, stock trackers, logistics updates, and operational reporting.
• Prepare, check, collate and distribute trade and shipping documentation.
• Review operational documents such as inspection reports, assay certificates, weight notes and shipping documents.
• Help prepare and verify Letter of Credit and contract‑related paperwork.
• Assist with invoice verification, supporting documents and cost tracking.
• Communicate with logistics providers, agents, warehouses, surveyors, customers and suppliers to ensure smooth execution.
• Maintain accurate filing, templates, records and document‑control processes.
• Provide general administrative and operational support to the broader operations team.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience in operations, logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, administration or a related field.
• Strong organisational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow up proactively and meet deadlines.
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn and genuine interest in commodity trading, shipping and international operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
