Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

A leading engineering organisation in Pretoria East is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical components, systems and assemblies. This role offers hands‑on experience across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, systems and assemblies.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Support project engineering activities from planning through execution.
• Participate in design reviews, testing and implementation activities.
• Liaise with suppliers, manufacturing teams and other stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with technical, quality and safety requirements.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement and product‑enhancement initiatives.
• Engage in problem‑solving and troubleshooting activities.

Required profile

• BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years post‑graduate engineering experience.
• Exposure to design engineering and project engineering activities.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD.
• Experience with engineering design software.
• Ability to create technical drawings and documentation.
