Junior Laboratory Analyst

About the role

Our client, located on the East Rand of Johannesburg, is seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Junior Laboratory Analyst to support daily laboratory operations. The role is open to candidates from Grade 12 level up to current tertiary students in relevant scientific fields.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, label, log and track samples using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Prepare reagents, standards and samples for analysis.
• Assist with routine analysis on ICP‑OES instruments and perform basic instrument checks under supervision.
• Support quality‑control activities and report any result or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment, following PPE, waste‑handling and ISO 17025 requirements.
• Handle and store high‑grade or precious‑metal samples securely.

Required profile

• Matriculation (Grade 12) required; Mathematics and Science subjects are an advantage.
• Relevant laboratory experience or exposure is beneficial.
• Basic computer literacy and experience with data capture.
• Knowledge of LIMS, ISO 17025 or other laboratory quality systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, punctuality and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work flexible hours and follow safety procedures.
