Junior Engineer – Mining & Resource Engineering

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering consultancy for the global mining and resource sector, is seeking a motivated Junior Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team in Parow East, Cape Town. This role offers a recent graduate the chance to work on the full project lifecycle, from design through on‑site commissioning, while receiving mentorship toward professional registration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with process and hydraulic design of slurry, water and backfill pumping systems.
• Support mechanical design of pumping equipment and backfill plants.
• Prepare equipment, valve, instrumentation and piping schedules.
• Contribute to capital and operational cost estimates.
• Conduct laboratory testing on material samples.
• Produce CAD drawings and technical documentation as required.
• Support project planning, scheduling, proposal preparation and coordination with Project Managers.
• Attend client meetings and site visits for data gathering, inspections and commissioning activities.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, presentations and engineering calculations.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (BTech, BEng, BSc Engineering, MEng or equivalent) in Mechanical or related engineering discipline.
• Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior engineers and clients.
