Junior Electrical Technician – Substation & RTU Testing

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Technician to join our team in Pretoria. The role focuses on factory acceptance testing and support of Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and protection equipment used in electrical substations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform factory acceptance testing of RTU systems, including GE D20, D25, D400, iBox, G100 and G500 devices.
• Conduct protection system factory and site acceptance testing.
• Provide technical support for iST‑supplied RTU and protection equipment.
• Investigate, diagnose and repair RTU, protection and control equipment.
• Assist in the delivery of engineering projects and prepare technical reports.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 1 year experience working in electrical substations.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new application software quickly.
• Effective communication skills with team members and customers.

Required skills

• RTU system testing (GE D20, D25, D400, iBox, G100, G500).
• Protection system testing and troubleshooting.
• Technical support for RTU and protection equipment.
• Investigation and repair of RTU, protection and control hardware.
• Technical report writing.
