Junior Attorney – Foreclosure & Banking Litigation

About the role

Our well‑established legal practice is seeking a Junior Attorney to join the litigation team in Cape Town. The role focuses on banking litigation, home‑loan foreclosures, and High Court matters, offering the chance to manage a substantial caseload while developing specialised expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume litigation caseload from inception to finalisation.
• Handle banking litigation and home‑loan foreclosure matters.
• Conduct defended and opposed litigation in the High Court.
• Draft, review and prepare pleadings, notices, affidavits and other legal documents.
• Perform legal research and provide sound advice on the National Credit Act and related legislation.
• Prepare and attend court hearings, applications, trials and other proceedings.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, court officials and other stakeholders.
• Monitor deadlines, court dates and procedural requirements, ensuring accurate case files.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Admission as an Attorney in South Africa with the right of appearance in the High Court.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in banking litigation and home‑loan foreclosures.
• Proven ability to manage defended and/or opposed High Court litigation.
• Strong working knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA).
• Previous trial experience is an advantage.
