Junior Attorney – Foreclosure & Banking Litigation

About the role

We are a well‑established legal practice seeking a Junior Attorney to join our litigation team in Cape Town. The role focuses on high‑volume banking litigation, home‑loan foreclosures and High Court matters, offering the chance to develop expertise in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume litigation caseload from inception to finalisation.
• Handle banking litigation and home‑loan foreclosure matters.
• Conduct defended and opposed litigation in the High Court.
• Draft, review and prepare pleadings, notices, affidavits and other legal documents.
• Perform legal research and provide sound advice on matters under management.
• Apply and interpret the National Credit Act and related legislation.
• Prepare matters for hearings, applications, trials and other court proceedings.
• Attend court appearances and manage litigation proceedings effectively.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, court officials and other stakeholders.
• Monitor deadlines, court dates and procedural requirements, ensuring accurate matter files.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Admission as an Attorney in South Africa.
• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Right of appearance in the High Court.
• Proven experience in banking litigation and home‑loan foreclosures.
• Ability to manage a demanding workload with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Right of appearance in the High Court.
• Knowledge of the National Credit Act.
• Strong legal drafting and research abilities.
