Junior Associate Attorney

About the role

Our client, a well‑established law firm in Lynwood, Pretoria, is looking for a motivated Junior Associate Attorney. This permanent position offers the chance to work on commercial and insolvency matters from start to finish, supporting senior lawyers while developing your own legal expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Handle commercial law and insolvency cases from inception through resolution.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, pleadings, affidavits, notices, and correspondence.
• Provide legal advice to clients and attend consultations, negotiations, and settlement discussions.
• Appear in court when required and liaise with clients, counsel, sheriffs, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain legal files, ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines, and monitor legislative developments.
• Assist senior attorneys with complex matters and uphold high standards of client service.

Required profile

• Degree in Law with essential experience in Commercial Law and Insolvency Law.
• Strong drafting, analytical, problem‑solving, and organisational abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to client service.
