Junior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our dynamic property development and construction business. The successful candidate will have completed their SAIPA articles and will support the finance team in delivering accurate monthly and statutory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end accounting processes, including journal entries and accruals.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance‑sheet items, debtor and creditor accounts.
• Calculate VAT and handle statutory submissions.
• Assist with annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies and relevant legislation.
• Identify and recommend improvements to financial controls and processes.
• Provide financial support and guidance to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Completed SAIPA articles (advantageous).
• Experience with South African VAT legislation and audit support.

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience using Pastel Partner or Pastel Evolution.
• Familiarity with CaseWare (advantageous).
