Junior Accountant (Contract 1-2 years)

About the role

Our client is looking for a Junior Accountant to join a dynamic finance team on a 1‑2 year contract. The role is based onsite in Sandton and involves independent handling of core accounting functions while supporting month‑end reporting and statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain bank, supplier, customer, inventory and general ledger reconciliations.
• Process cash book entries, manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Prepare journal entries, allocate accounts and generate invoices and statements.
• Capture inventory purchases, vehicle sales and support stock counts.
• Produce month‑end schedules, assist with management accounts and financial reporting.
• Apply VAT legislation, IFRS and SARS regulations to transactions.
• Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries and support payroll administration.
• Maintain financial records using Sage and ensure compliance with POPIA.

Required profile

• Approximately 5 years of practical accounting experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate financial information.
• Comfortable solving accounting challenges in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Sage accounting software
• Knowledge of IFRS standards
• Understanding of VAT legislation
• Familiarity with SARS regulations
• Awareness of POPIA compliance requirements
