IT Support Technician – Johannesburg Distribution Centre

About the role

Takealot.com is looking for a proactive IT Support Technician to join the team at its Johannesburg Distribution Centre. You will provide first‑line technical assistance, maintain hardware and software assets, and ensure smooth daily operations for a fast‑moving e‑commerce environment.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve IT support tickets using the company’s help‑desk ticketing system.
• Troubleshoot, replace and configure computers, monitors, printers, scanners (including barcode scanners) and other peripherals.
• Assist system engineers with “smart‑hands” tasks such as hardware swaps and cable installations.
• Install, patch, configure and manage PC software, including OS re‑imaging and software deployments.
• Perform asset tagging, maintain asset registers and manage vendor relationships for equipment support.
• Execute password resets in Active Directory, Google Workspace and other internal systems.
• Support video‑conference and A/V equipment, and install patch cabling for phones, servers and switches.
• Document IT procedures, test protocols and create internal knowledge base articles.

Required profile

• Higher Certificate or Advanced National (Vocational) Certificate in IT/Computing, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years IT support or 6 years without formal qualification).
• Ability to lift and handle PC hardware and deploy built devices across the site.
• Own reliable transport for on‑site duties.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven problem‑solving mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction.
