IT Software Tester

About the role

OUTsurance is looking for an IT Software Tester to join its IT Development team in Centurion, Gauteng. The role focuses on ensuring the quality of internal web, portal and mobile applications through proactive testing and collaboration with development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with project development teams to understand requirements and quality impacts.
• Test system modifications, new features and functionality across web, portal and mobile platforms.
• Develop and present comprehensive test plans and participate in test plan reviews.
• Champion quality within development teams and promote adoption of new testing technologies and tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 24 months experience in mobile and web testing.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• High energy, curiosity, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Matric certificate required; IT qualification or ongoing studies beneficial.

Required skills

• Testing of internal web, portal and mobile applications.
• Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• MS SQL knowledge.
• REST API testing using Postman or Swagger.
• Interpretation of application error logs.
• Familiarity with API and mobile application branching strategies.
• Exposure to test automation frameworks such as Katalon, Selenium, Protractor, Cypress.
• Experience with test case management tools like TestRail.
• Basic knowledge of C# and JavaScript.
• Exposure to UiPath and Cosmos databases.
• ISTQB qualification (desirable).
