IT Network Engineer

About the role

The IT Network Engineer will design, implement, optimise and support enterprise network infrastructure for a diverse client base. You will work with Cisco and FortiNet technologies to ensure high availability, security and performance across on‑premises and hybrid environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy LAN/WAN, SD‑WAN and data‑centre solutions, including load balancers (Kemp).
• Configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and FortiNet devices.
• Support hybrid cloud connectivity such as AWS Direct Connect, VPN, MPLS and DIA.
• Implement high‑availability designs (HSRP, VRRP, clustering, failover).
• Monitor network performance, manage QoS policies and perform firmware upgrades.
• Apply network security controls, configure Cisco Firepower/FortiGate firewalls and ensure ISO 22301/27001 compliance.
• Provide third‑level support, resolve complex connectivity issues and lead root‑cause analysis for major incidents.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, SOPs, DR runbooks and asset documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise network engineering and operations.
• Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and security incidents.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with vendors and internal teams.

Required skills

• Cisco IOS, IOS‑XE, NX‑OS, Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
• Cisco DNA Center, automation tools and Cisco ACI (advantageous).
• FortiNet/FortiGate firewall configuration.
• Kemp load balancers.
• Routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, VXLAN.
• WAN technologies: MPLS, SD‑WAN, DIA, broadband failover.
• High‑availability protocols: HSRP, VRRP, clustering.
• Network security: ACLs, IPSec VPN, SSL VPN, segmentation, Zero Trust principles.
• QoS, VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, VXLAN.
