Intermediate SQL Developer

About the role

Our client, a well‑established South African organisation, is seeking an Intermediate SQL Developer to join a high‑performing technology team. You will design, develop and optimise Microsoft SQL Server databases and reporting solutions that support critical business applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain SQL Server objects such as stored procedures, functions, views and triggers.
• Write and optimise complex T‑SQL queries to improve performance.
• Develop and support ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Create and maintain reporting solutions with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
• Analyse execution plans, implement query optimisation and indexing strategies.
• Support database deployments, handle production incidents and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Ensure data integrity, security and compliance across environments.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a National Diploma, BTech or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of commercial experience as a SQL Developer.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server development background with advanced T‑SQL skills.
• Experience building SSIS packages, SSRS reports and Power BI dashboards.
