Intermediate Java Developer (Financial Markets)

About the role

Alinta Tech Solutions is seeking an experienced Intermediate Java Developer to join its Capital Markets technology team in Johannesburg. You will design, develop, and support high‑performance financial applications used for trading, pricing, market data, and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications for capital markets and trading environments.
• Participate in the full SDLC, including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA Engineers, and fellow developers to deliver robust solutions.
• Analyse and resolve software defects, performance issues, and production incidents within agreed service levels.
• Write clean, well‑documented, reusable code following coding standards and best practices.
• Develop and execute unit tests; support integration and user‑acceptance testing.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Maintain technical documentation and support production releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Exposure to financial markets, investment banking, or related domains.
