Interior Designer

About the role

Our manufacturing client based in Milnerton, Cape Town is seeking an Interior Designer to lead space planning and interior layout optimisation for luxury interiors. The role involves creating detailed 2D and 3D designs, designing furniture and cabinetry, and producing manufacturing drawings that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop interior layouts and concepts that maximise ergonomics, functionality and visual appeal.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Design bespoke furniture, cabinetry and interior components, and produce manufacturing documentation.
• Select materials, finishes, fabrics and fittings, and compile FF&E schedules and mood boards.
• Collaborate with naval architects, engineers and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable.
• Participate in design reviews, incorporate client feedback and support prototype development.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, quality requirements and relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma in interior design or equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of space planning, interior layout optimisation, furniture design and cabinetry construction.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (essential).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of CATIA.
• Strong computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
