Insurance Consultant (Cape Town)

About the role

The Insurance Consultant will join Santam’s Operations Commercial Contact Centre in Cape Town, delivering end‑to‑end support to intermediaries and broker representatives. You will be responsible for handling enquiries, providing quotations, and ensuring a high level of service throughout the policy lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to net profit and growth targets by securing new business and retaining existing policies.
• Provide telephone and email support to intermediaries, authorised representatives, and broker services.
• Handle general insurance and policy‑specific enquiries, analysing requests and issuing quotations.
• Initiate outbound calls to discuss quotations and convert prospects into policies.
• Conduct follow‑up with clients on cancelled policies to understand reasons and attempt retention.
• Manage new business issuance, policy maintenance, renewals and agricultural policy aspects.
• Resolve insurance queries within required timeframes while complying with underwriting criteria and regional requirements.
• Set and communicate client expectations regarding turnaround times for submitted requests.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to exceed client expectations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Analytical mindset to assess intermediary requests and provide accurate quotations.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced contact‑centre environment.
• Commitment to compliance and adherence to underwriting standards.
