Information Systems Security Architect – Johannesburg

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Information Systems Security Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise security architecture for a forward‑thinking organization in Johannesburg. The role focuses on delivering robust cybersecurity, risk management and alignment with business strategy across complex, multi‑market environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise security architecture frameworks and standards.
• Secure large‑scale systems such as ERP, CRM, OSS and BSS.
• Lead security design for cloud, API, data/AI, mobile and web applications.
• Implement data protection, IAM/PAM, micro‑segmentation and integration security.
• Govern hybrid IT and cloud security, including Azure, AWS and GCP environments.
• Manage security for AI initiatives and oversee incident response processes.
• Collaborate with multi‑market and regulated domains (POPIA, GDPR, PCI/FS).
• Provide project management and stakeholder communication throughout the security lifecycle.

Required profile

• 8–12+ years of IT security experience, with 5–7+ years in security architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Proven experience in large, complex enterprises and regulated industries.
• Relevant certifications such as SABSA, TOGAF, CISSP, CCSP, CISM, Azure/AWS/GCP security certifications are a plus.
