Information Pharmacist – 6 Month Fixed-Term

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Information Pharmacist on a six‑month fixed‑term contract to provide accurate medicines information and clinical support. The role is based in Durban, KwaZulu‑Natal and focuses on evidence‑based practice, drug safety and supporting healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver evidence‑based medicines information to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct literature searches and critically evaluate scientific and clinical publications.
• Support pharmacovigilance and drug safety activities.
• Prepare technical reports, information documents and educational material.
• Maintain medicines information databases and bibliographic resources.
• Assist with training sessions, presentations and educational initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical and professional pharmacy standards.

Required profile

• BSc (Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) with current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council and the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa.
• Minimum four years’ experience in a retail, hospital or managed‑healthcare pharmacy environment.
• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacology is advantageous.
• Strong ability to search literature, appraise evidence and evaluate scientific data.

Required skills

• Literature searching and critical appraisal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with bibliographic management software and Microsoft Access.
• Knowledge of pharmacovigilance and drug safety processes.
