Industrial Designer – Office Furniture & Privacy Pods

About the role

Our client, an established Cape Town‑based company specialising in corporate office environments, is seeking a creative and technically skilled Industrial Designer. You will play a key role in developing innovative office furniture, acoustic solutions, privacy pods and other workplace products from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop office furniture, acoustic booths and privacy pods, creating concepts, 3D models, renders and production‑ready designs.
• Research market trends, customer needs and competitor products to generate new product ideas.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, specifications and manufacturing documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to prototype, test, validate and refine designs.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing products for functionality, cost, ergonomics and sustainability.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Industrial Design, Product Design, Furniture Design or a related field.
• Proven experience designing products for commercial or workplace environments.
• Strong understanding of materials, finishes, manufacturing processes and product construction.
• Ability to produce high‑quality technical drawings and documentation.
• Attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
