Import & Export Logistics Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an Import & Export Logistics Specialist to manage and optimise our cross‑border trade operations in South Africa. The role will ensure full compliance with local customs regulations while driving efficient logistics solutions for sea, air and road freight.

Key responsibilities

• Research South African import/export laws, customs supervision regulations, tariff policies and trade control provisions.
• Monitor policy updates from SARS, SACU and SADC and assess compliance risks.
• Oversee the complete customs clearance process, including HS code classification, import permits, e‑filing of declarations, levy calculations and coordination of inspections.
• Manage logistics channels with freight providers, track cargo movement and resolve delays, detentions, damage or loss.
• Develop and implement cost‑effective utilisation plans that leverage preferential trade agreements while mitigating compliance risks.
• Maintain accurate import and export documentation and establish data ledgers for regular business reviews.
• Liaise with South African authorities, customs brokers and internal teams in China to exchange policy and logistics information.
• Identify violations and tax risks, and create preventive contingency plans to avoid penalties and clearance delays.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in international logistics, import/export trade or customs clearance within South Africa.
• Proven track record of delivering compliant and efficient cross‑border operations.
