ICT Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

The ICT Infrastructure Specialist will be based at Amatola Water’s Head Office in East London and will report to the Senior Manager: ICT. The role focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining the organisation’s ICT infrastructure while ensuring security, reliability and alignment with corporate strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ICT infrastructure policies, strategies and performance indicators.
• Design, install, upgrade and manage Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange, SQL and Remote Desktop Services environments.
• Oversee corporate disaster recovery planning, backup execution and access management.
• Manage the Wide Area Network (WAN) in partnership with service providers to guarantee connectivity and rapid issue resolution.
• Prepare and present ICT infrastructure reports and cost‑centre budgets within Capex and Opex limits.
• Implement and monitor security controls across the infrastructure.
• Lead, motivate and evaluate the IT team, set KPIs and allocate work according to expertise.

Required profile

• BTech or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Studies or a related field (NQF Level 6).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Security+ and Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience with Windows Server, Exchange, SQL and RDS.
• At least 3 years supervising IT staff.
• Experience in corporate disaster recovery, access management and WAN hardware troubleshooting.
