IBM Integration Middleware Engineer – Johannesburg

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IBM Integration Middleware Engineer to join a banking client in Johannesburg. The position can be permanent or contract and requires three days a week on‑site, with the remainder flexible.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM MQ, IBM ACE and IBM DataPower in production and non‑production environments.
• Provide 24/7 production support, incident troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and timely resolution.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates lifecycle, including installation, renewal and troubleshooting.
• Perform Linux administration, deployments, patching, configuration and performance tuning.
• Support messaging and streaming components such as Kafka and IBM API Connect.
• Automate routine tasks and environment provisioning using Ansible and Terraform.
• Collaborate with network teams on F5 load‑balancer integration and traffic routing.
• Document processes, create runbooks and participate in change‑management and release activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven middleware administration and production support experience for banking or large enterprises.
• Strong hands‑on experience with IBM MQ, IBM ACE and IBM DataPower.
• Solid Linux administration and shell‑scripting skills.
• Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates in production.
• Good problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
