HSEQ Officer

About the role

Our client, a leading logistics and supply‑chain solutions provider, is looking for a proactive, hands‑on HSEQ Officer to join the Durban operation. The role focuses on supporting food‑grade warehouse activities while also delivering HSEQ support across transport and logistics functions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily HSEQ inspections in the warehouse, yard and other operational areas.
• Identify, report and follow up on hazards, unsafe acts, incidents and near‑misses.
• Assist with incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor compliance with HSEQ procedures, site rules and PPE requirements.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and inductions for employees and contractors.
• Support internal and external audit preparation by maintaining accurate records.
• Complete HSEQ reports, registers, inspections and compliance checklists.
• Oversee housekeeping, hygiene, waste management, spill control and environmental compliance.
• Support food‑safety, hygiene and product‑protection standards in a food‑grade warehouse.
• Monitor contractor and driver compliance with site requirements and assist with risk assessments.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Health & Safety Certificate (essential).
• 2‑4 years of HSEQ, SHEQ or Safety Officer experience, preferably in logistics, warehousing or transport.
• Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations and audit support.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Good computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work overtime or after‑hours as operational needs dictate.
