HR Manager

About the role

The HR Manager will lead Totalstay’s People Operations function across more than 700 short‑term rental keys and the head office. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines strategic HR direction with day‑to‑day operational oversight in a fast‑growing hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full People Operations function for all properties and head office, aligning HR strategy with business growth and legislative requirements.
• Lead, develop and performance‑manage three direct reports: Workforce Operations Manager, HR Administrator and Training Administrator.
• Maintain the People Operations Google Drive and use Roubler as the system of record.
• Manage the annual HR compliance calendar, ensuring deadlines for EEA, Skills Development Act, BCEA and POPIA are met.
• Oversee Employment Equity obligations, CATHSSETA engagement and POPIA compliance for all HR data handling.
• Manage the outsourced payroll and HR/IR provider relationship, monitoring billing, scope and IR process integrity.
• Handle employee relations matters, including disciplinary hearings, grievances and CCMA cases.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end employee lifecycle from recruitment to exit, ensuring contracts are legally compliant.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a People Operations or HR function in a multi‑site environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (EEA, BCEA, POPIA, Employment Equity).
• Ability to manage outsourced HR/IR providers and ensure compliance with contractual scope.
• Experience handling complex employee relations and industrial relations matters.
