Health & Safety Intern

About the role

The Health & Safety Intern will join Afrimat's Internship Development Programme, supporting the Health and Safety Officer in maintaining a safe work environment across sites and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Health and Safety filing system in line with company policies.
• Conduct inspections, compile reports and assist with internal and external audits.
• Support incident and accident investigations and participate in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) processes.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing Method Statements, MCOPs and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Help deliver safety induction training for employees and contractors.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or Safety Management.
• Basic knowledge of risk assessments, incident reporting, toolbox talks, PPE, safety audits and inspections.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to learn.
