Head of Sales – Renewable Energy (South Africa)

About the role

Evolution Recruitment is seeking a Head of Sales to drive commercial performance for a leading renewable energy and energy storage organisation operating across South Africa and selected African markets. The role is on‑site in Cape Town with travel required and starts as a 1‑year fixed‑term contract with the intention of becoming permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a structured sales strategy across residential, commercial, utility and strategic customer segments.
• Identify priority markets, customer groups, channel opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Translate commercial strategy into annual and quarterly sales plans and monitor pipeline performance.
• Collaborate with product and marketing teams to define product positioning and go‑to‑market tactics.
• Lead, coach and performance‑manage the sales team to achieve revenue and margin targets.
• Maintain commercial governance, pricing, margin protection and deal‑approval processes.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of commercial or sales leadership experience, preferably in South African energy, electrical, renewable energy or B2B infrastructure sectors.
• Proven track record of negotiating and closing high‑value, complex transactions.
• Experience building and managing high‑performing sales teams.
• Strong senior‑level client and strategic account relationship management.

• Pipeline management and sales forecasting.
• Pricing governance and margin management.
• Structured deal approval processes.
