Head of Multinational – South Africa

About the role

The Head of Multinational in South Africa leads AIG's multinational underwriting activities across the Africa zone. This senior position is accountable for profitability, market penetration and volume for a portfolio of complex multinational clients.

Key responsibilities

• Represent AIG as the central point of contact for multinational client and program management.
• Coordinate communication and project management with internal and external stakeholders for program design, implementation and ongoing service.
• Underwrite and review complex multinational risks within delegated authority, negotiating terms with clients and brokers.
• Drive business development, pipeline management and cross‑sell initiatives across profit centres.
• Manage expenses, audit compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Set objectives, coach direct and matrix reports, and oversee succession planning and talent development.
• Ensure portfolio growth targets and adherence to the Property AQI strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in multinational underwriting or insurance program management.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of achieving profitability and growth targets.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship‑building skills with clients, brokers and internal partners.
• Ability to lead and develop senior teams in a matrix environment.
• Knowledge of audit, regulatory and compliance standards in the insurance sector.
