Head of Marketing

About the role

This senior leadership role holds end‑to‑end responsibility for building and leading a new marketing function within a product‑led financial services environment. The position shapes the brand, drives product marketing and establishes robust go‑to‑market execution for a high‑visibility consumer banking proposition.

Key responsibilities

• Own and protect the brand narrative and positioning, defining clear product value propositions and ensuring consistent brand expression across all channels.
• Lead the overall marketing agenda, managing senior stakeholder relationships, steering committees, agencies and retail partners, and defining targeting and audience strategies.
• Design and build the marketing function, including structure, resourcing, operating model, and direct leadership of senior specialist roles.
• Hold full accountability for a multi‑million‑rand marketing budget (R130m–R170m), delegating channel‑level budgets while establishing robust reporting and governance.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of senior marketing experience with ownership of brand and product marketing.
• Proven track record of building or scaling a marketing function, preferably as the first senior hire.
• Experience in a product‑led organisation and strong commercial/go‑to‑market judgement.
• Extensive exposure to senior stakeholder forums such as board or steering committees.
• Demonstrated experience with AI‑enabled ways of working.
